Sparkle and Shine?

Hey guys! So, by the title of my post you guys probably think that I'm going to go on and on about how I like this organic product and how you guys should really look into it. Well, you'd be WRONG. This organic product is TERRIBLE. What is it? It's Bare Minerals Illuminating Mineral Veil, a.k.a. 'Sparkles in a jar'. I recently bought this product from Ulta thinking that it would be great to use as a facial highlighter, which is definitely not the case. All that this veil did was saturate my already oily face with even more shine. Instead of bringing out my best features it brought out my worst. I couldn't even get it off of my face with soap. I had to scrub at it for 5 minutes until most of the sparkles were gone. Listen to what it claims to do: "Know that airbrushed perfection that's in all the magazines? We've got the same soft-focus finish right here in a jar. Illuminating Mineral Veil gives you a pearly, ethereal glow that reflects light for a photo-fabulous look. And like our original Mineral Veil, it's the flawless finishing touch to any makeup routine." Yeah, it does give you a glow, which I wouldn't mind so much if it didn't look like my face was a disco ball! They even claim that the powder is "completely translucent, so all you can see is beautiful skin" but that just isn't the case. Maybe it's just me but wearing ACTUAL sparkles on my face as an every day look just isn't going to cut it. I can't wait to take it back and get my refund! Anyways, here's a quick re-cap of the pros and cons.

Pros: Umm...Umm....Umm...Yeah, that's all I got. Wait, It's organic! Yay!

Cons: Is full of ACTUAL sparkles, increases the appearance of oily skin, Doesn't come off easily at all, Is terribly over priced concerning the quality of this product ($20.00).

Rating: 1Star* (For being organic!)

Problem Skin

Hey you guys! So lately my skin has been acting up. No, It's not my acne...It's actually my hands. I went to the doctor and they said that the reason my hands were breaking out into a rash was probably because of my purity ring. You see, I have really sensitive skin when it comes to metals so I didn't think much about it. I just stopped wearing my purity ring, like they said, and waited for the rash to disappear. They prescribed this really heavy duty medicated cream for me but I really didn't want to use it. I tried it, and it worked (although the rash came back later), but it was full of chemicals and all sorts of stuff so I turned to my local health food store for an alternative. What I found was actually shocking. The cream that I bought from the health food store worked way faster than the Rx cream. It took 6 uses for the doctor's cream to clear up my hands and only about 2-3 uses with the organic cream. The organic cream was even a tinted cream so when you put it on it totally HIDES all of the bumps and red blotches from the rash. It made my hands look PERFECT! It's even supposed to work for acne and other skin irritations! What's the name of this 'magical cream' you ask? It's called Margarite's Tinted Zinc Cream. You can get it from most health food stores, and it costs $10.00 for a 1 oz. tube. Here are the Pros and Cons :

Pros: Fast acting, Hides Blemishes, Is a multi-purpose skin cream, Isn't too expensive, Lasts a long time, Is organic.

Cons: The only con I can think of is that this product really does dry out your hands. You just have to be sure to apply lotion after using the zinc cream.

Mask Your Acne

Day 243Image by mitch98000 via Flickr
Hey guys! I'm so sorry I haven't been able to blog in a while. School has definitely been keeping me busy but I promise to be more consistent and I even have a new beauty product to show you guys. Okay, So you know how I was talking about face masks a couple of posts back? Well I found out that using a clay mask can help oily and acne prone skin more than any other mask out there. The clay from the mask absorbs all of the toxins in your skin while the nutrients infused in the mask get placed into your pores. It's a great trade off! Another great thing about clay masks are that a lot of them come in big bottles for CHEAP prices. I got a 6 oz. bottle of Freeman's Avocado and Oatmeal Clay Mask for only $3.00 at Walmart and I have to say that for a cheap product, it really does deliver great results. Here's my Pros and Cons list of this clay mask:

Pros: Cleans pores really well, Leaves skin soft, Seems to really tighten and lift the skin during treatment (Nice alternative to a face lift, I guess), Is easy to use, Isn't a long process (15 minutes to dry, then just wipe away and moisturize), Comes in a huge bottle, Doesn't cost very much, Smells amazing, Really appears to have helped my acne.

Cons: Really dries out your face if you don't moisturize after use, Feels a little uncomfortable when it starts to dry (Makes face extremely tight), IS NOT AN ORGANIC PRODUCT ='( .

As you can see there are alot of things to consider before buying this product but since it's only $3.00 I think that it's really worth it to give it a shot. I'm still really disappointed, however, that it isn't an organic clay mask. No worries though, because last week I saw a 6 oz. bottle of an all natural clay mask at my local health food store for the same price as the other one. I suspect this mask will be just as good as Freeman's, if not better. I hope to try it once my current bottle runs out. If I do, I'll be sure to post my results! Don't forget to comment and subscribe =)

Stop Flaking Out

Hey there! So everyone knows what a pain dandruff is, right? Well stop flaking out because I think I've found an all natural solution that will knock your socks off. I've been using Jason's tea tree scalp normalizing shampoo and conditioner for about six months now. I think this product is great! And the smell...so sweet. I just love the smell of nature! So here's what it claims (and actually) does: "Tea Tree Scalp Normalizing Shampoo gently, effectively eliminates excessive dead cells and dandruff to gradually normalize the scalp. Australian Tea Tree Oil, known for its anti-bacterial and anti-fungicidal properties, is combined with selected botanicals and protein to purify and fortify hair follicles. Leaves hair soft, adds volume, luster and manageability. Helps keep hair cleaner and shinier longer." I absolutely love this stuff. So lets go through the pros and cons together.

Pros: Smells good, Leaves hair nice and shiny, Made my hair really soft, Removed my dandruff, Lasts a long time, In-expensive.
Cons: To remove all dandruff you have to leave the conditioner in your hair for about 10-15 minutes.

As you can see, the biggest problem is how long you have to leave it setting in your hair. Other than that I'd say this is a wonderful product. And anyways, everyone's hair is different. Maybe you'd only have to leave it in your hair for a maximum of 5 minutes. Who knows. All I know is that it's way better than using a shampoo that isn't natural and can be harmful, in the end, to your body. Thanks for reading and please comment if you have any questions or suggestions. I love you all! Bye! =)

Ten Ways To Finish Off Your Lip Balm

Burt's Bees lipbalmImage by mismisimos via Flickr
Have you ever wondered how you could finish off a whole tube of lip balm? It's only used for chapped lips so that could take forever, right? WRONG. Lip balm has many different uses and today I'm going to tell you what some of them are:

  1. It can be used to seal and heal wounds and nicks left by shaving.
  2. It can be used to heal tender spots under the nose due to too much wiping and blowing during cold and flu seasons.
  3. It can be used to shine your shoes after cleaning them.
  4. It can be used to keep your eyebrow hairs properly brushed into place.
  5. It can be used to keep hairline from being dyed when dying hair.
  6. It can be used to make brittle nails harder and healthier.
  7. It can be used to keep heels and feet from blistering when going on long walks.
  8. It can be used on a stubborn zipper. Apply to the teeth of the zipper to have it running smoothly.
  9. It can be used to moisturize skin and prevent wind burn when skiing.
  10. It can be used to remove things that are stuck like rings.
As you can see, lip balm is very useful. There are many different ways you can use it which is great, especially if you're anything like me and tend to lose the tube before you even have the time to use it all. To tell you the truth, I can't even remember ever finishing off a whole tube. That's kind of sad! Haha, anyways I hope you all enjoyed this post! If you have any questions, comments, or ideas that you'd like me to blog about please leave me a comment. I really value your input =)...

A Perfect World

Hey guys! So, I recently discovered the power of MOISTURIZING. I never knew how much better it actually makes your makeup look. I used to only prime my face, but not any more! My makeup used to look fake and chalky until I started using Origin's moisturizer, A Perfect World. Since this is basically my first moisturizer I can't really compare it with anything but I can tell you the pros and cons. Here goes nothing!:

Pros: This stuff smells AMAZING, It's an organic moisturizer, It has white tea (which is an antioxidant that protects skin from aging, stress, etc.), It makes you feel refreshed while keeping your skin deeply hydrated.

Cons: This product is expensive ($38.50), You have to wait a while for the cream to sit before you prime your face (I suggest doing something like brushing your teeth while it 'dries')

As you can see the price is the greatest con. I have a free sample that I received because of a purchase so I can't really tell you how long the regular jar will last. The jar in the picture looks tiny because it is a picture of my sample. To see an accurate picture go to:

Fashion With A Passion

***The contents below are based upon my faith. If you don't like what's being said then that's your opinion. Just don't leave any nasty comments please. Thank You***

Lately I've been noticing that more and more people are starting to wear the ever popular, purity ring! Purity rings are an awesome way to show others your commitment to wait to have sex until the day that you enter into a holy, bible based marriage. This is one thing that I strongly support and believe in. It's also something that everyone should think about and consider. There are so many horrible things that can happen if you don't wait until you get married and I just don't think that it's worth it. Waiting is definitely important. I also know that some of you reading this might have already had sex before marriage and I'm not here to condemn you for that. Is it wrong? Yes. But will God forgive you? Yes, as long as you ask with a sincere and repentant heart, striving to do what is right. God really does love you and when he said no to have sex before marriage, he didn't say it without a reason. He said it to protect you. Just trust me on this, It's one of the best decisions you could ever make. Plus, your future husband will definitely respect you for it. I promise you that you won't regret it.

Mask Your Face

A Facial mask.Image via Wikipedia
Have you been breaking out a lot lately? Are you wondering why your skin likes to break out so much? Well, one reason could be the level of dead skin cells that you accumulate on your face. This is especially true during the teenage years when the level of skin cell shedding is at it's highest. The dead skin cells tend to stick together, once they've been shed, which can easily clog pores and lead to breakouts. A lot of things can help regulate this problem like always wearing a moisturizer. Another thing I've found to be helpful is a homemade facial mask that I discovered quite some time ago. This facial mask really moisturizes and exfoliates the face while removing dead skin cells in the process. Using this recipe will leave your face silky smooth and even add a natural glow. Here's the recipe:

Oatmeal and Yogurt Facial Mask

Ingredients:
  •  3 tablespoons of plain white yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of dry oats
Instructions:
  1. Take a small sized bowl and a spoon and mix both the yogurt and oats together until you get an even consistency.
  2. Once you're done with the mixing just take about a scoopful and start spreading the paste onto your face until your whole face is covered. You might want to pull your hair back before starting this process.
  3. Now that your face is covered completely wait like that for about 15 minutes and then you're done! Just take a washcloth and wash it all off.
And there you have it! I really like this face mask a lot...The only con that I can think of is that when you first put it on the oatmeal and yogurt kind of sting and make your face tingly. I actually liked the feeling but that might just be me. I guess you'll have to find out for yourself! Thanks for reading and come back soon for more beauty and style, tips and reviews...=)

Flower Power

Lately I've noticed that a lot of teens are wearing flower clips in their hair. I actually think that flower clips are cute and they're also an easy way to liven up any outfit. In my opinion Forever 21 has the BEST and CHEAPEST flower clips around. I got a black and white one the other day for $1.50 (both of them together). Another good thing about them is that they don't hurt your head like headbands do. I don't know about you but I'm not a big fan of headbands. The ones that have 'thorns' stuck in them to help stick to your head are the worst! And having something rubbing against the back of my ears just irritates me to death! But, if  you like headbands, then there are some really cute ones that look just like the flowered clips but in headband form. Either way, these accessories are wonderful when you just need to 'mix things up a little'.

Lashtastic

The woman's eye has had mascara applied to the...Image via Wikipedia
Hey guys! So, one thing I've noticed lately is the need for a good mascara. Everybody wants mascara that will make your lashes look long and full and if you're one of those people, then I know just the organic product for you! Origins cosmetics have a lot of fabulous products like face masks, foundations, and much more! One thing I really like from them, however, is there mascara (Origins Full Story Mascara). Granted, it is the only mascara I've ever used...but I still think it's really great. I've never had any real problems with clumping (most of the time it's pretty good) and the great thing is that it's water proof! Yay! And, it's not too expensive either. A $14 bottle will last you 6-12 months! You heard me, months! So, what are you waiting for? I seriously don't know! This mascara is LASHTASTIC!

Pros: Makes lashes long and fuller looking, The quality is great, It's organic, and It's water proof.

Cons: Occasionally clumps but only slightly and if you go over it twice the clumps come out.

Fun In The Sun

Have you been catching some rays lately? If so, then you know that one thing that isn't so beautiful is getting burned. Sure a nice healthy tan is cute (although tanning too much can give you cancer) but red, irritated, and flaky skin is another thing! I'm sure most of you have probably done some researching to find the perfect bottle of sunscreen but have you ever considered searching for an organic sunscreen? I know, I know...I'm a little obsessed with natural products but hey, my body will thank me for it later! Anyways, organic sunscreens are the way to go! One of my favorites is called Sunbrellas natural sun care family sunblock by JASON. This sunblock has an SPF level of 36, is water resistant, paraben free, and totally natural. It even smells good =)...So, what are the cons you ask? Seriously, I can't even think of one. This product is wonderful and so is the brand. I love JASON'S PRODUCTS!

Fall Fashion

Are you staying up to date on the latest fashion trends? If so then you know that the most popular colors for this fall are purple and blue! Flowered prints are also coming back in style as well as dark wash jeans (which are always in style!). Which stores are following this new 'trend' you ask?
My favorite store, however, is American Eagle. All of their clothes are stylish and up to date where as other stores like Jc Penny, Kohls, Dillards have some really nice things yet aren't always fashion forward. Still, if you look hard enough you can find some really nice things that go well together. For example, the other day I was shopping online for a really cool outfit and I took things from separate stores and combined them into one super cute outfit that I'm really proud of!:

Shirt (In Turquoise, From JC Penny): Decree® Embellished Cami

Jacket (In Bohemian Purple [not buttoned], From JC Penny): Takeout® Elbow Cardigan

Pants (In Super Dark, From American Eagle): Artist Crop Jean

Earrings (From American Eagle): AE Purple Swing Earrings

Shoes (In Black from JC Penny): Mix It® 'Emmie' Rosette Sandal

Waxing Vs. Shaving

Which one is better, waxing or shaving? There are many different pros and cons to each. Today we will be discussing these differences.
Shaving:

Pros: Shaving is fast, It's virtually painless.
Cons: You can easily nick yourself, The hair grows back FAST, Sometimes you can get bumps or ingrown hairs, It's been proven that the hair of women who shave gets darker and thicker over time, the pores of your skin get bigger (eventually).

Waxing:
Pros: Hair doesn't grow back for at least a week (and most of the time longer), You can't really harm your legs, Your hairs WILL get lighter and thinner over time, You won't get ingrown hairs or bumps.
Cons: Takes longer to wax, Hurts a lot the first couple of times you do it but becomes painless after a while.

As you can see shaving and waxing are pretty much just the opposite. In my opinion waxing is better. Yes it takes a lot of time (about two hours for your legs AT MOST) but in the long run it is much better for you and you'll be able to love your legs the way they are.

Shaving Rating: 2 Stars **
Waxing Rating: 4 Stars ****

Scarred For Life?

Fernleaf Lavender (Lavandula multifida)Image via Wikipedia
Have you ever popped a pimple and then had to suffer the consequence of harboring a scar that just won't go away? Yes, you could go get laser treatments done or try another tube of that scar zone stuff that never seems to work OR you could try an all natural remedy that gives you quick results. What's the remedy you ask? All you need is a bottle of 100% pure lavender oil. By putting a few drops of lavender oil on your scar 2-3 times a day you can drastically reduce the appearance of your scar. Yes, it does take a couple of weeks (or sometimes longer, which is about the only con) but it is definitely worth it. You can also put some drops on a fresh wound, which will heal it even faster. And the good news is that lavender oil is only about $5 for a bottle that should last you WAY over a year! I've even used this remedy myself! Lavender oil is also used for other things such as aromatherapy, stretch marks, rashes, sunburns, and more. When it comes down to it I'd rather find a natural cure instead of filling my body with toxins, which is a major pro to this method.

Prime Time

Are you tired of applying makeup only to have it disappear halfway through the day? Well so am I and I have the perfect solution! I use a product called prime time primer by Bare Escentuals. I have been using it for about five months now and I'm very satisfied with it. Now, what is a primer? A primer is basically a liquid/gel solution that you spread over your entire face BEFORE applying makeup. It basically keeps your makeup stuck to your face and prevents it from 'dissolving' if you have oily skin.

There are many different primers out there but I consider prime time to be the best and most affordable for many different reasons.

1) This primer is made out of completely natural ingredients! That's ALWAYS a plus!
2)This primer has lasted me five months and counting even though the bottle appears small.
3) A little bit of this primer really does go a long way.
4) This primer is about $20, which I know is kind of alot but when you see how long it lasts and the great quality of the product you will definitely think that it's worth it.

Another primer that I've heard is top notch is Smashbox's primer, however I have not used this product and I believe it is quite pricey.

Krazy for Konad

SO, recently I've found out about a company called Konad. Konad is a company that specializes in making nail art inventions. Here's the low down: Basically when you get a Konad kit you receive what they call an image plate, a scraper, a stamper, and special polish. All of  the Konad kits are different but the essential thing you need to know is that basically this is a kit that stamps images onto your nails. And the things is, you can do it over and over again instead of having to pay to get flowers on your nails or even a french manicure at your local nail salon. To good to be true huh? Well, think again. I bought it myself and I can at least tell you that the french tip kit is a really good one!

Let's get started:

1) Take the image plate of your choice and paint a strip of nail polish over the image you want with the special polish.

2) Take the scraper and holding it at a 45 degree angle quickly scrape horizontally.

3) Take your stamper and gently roll it across the image, applying slight pressure. You should now have the image appearing on the end of your stamp.

4) Take the stamp with the image on it and line it up with where you want it to go. If it is the french tip kit I recommend you roll the stamp slowly aligning it with the tip of your finger. If it is a regular image I have heard that it's easy if you go quickly, however I only have the french tip kit so I can't really say =P.

5) An voila. You now have a  perfect KONADICURE!

Now, time to rate Konad:

Pros: Easy enough to do, Really neat designs, Easy to be creative with

Cons: Takes some practice for french tips, must wipe down EVERYTHING with nail polish remover after applying an image to one finger. If you don't it will mess everything up! The best thing to do is get lint free nail pads so you don't get lint when going from finger to finger.

Rating: 4 stars ****

Skinny Jeans Get Even Skinnier

Closeup of a copper rivet on blue jeans.Image via Wikipedia
Alrighty, so I just found out about a new thing called 'jeggings'. Basically it's a cross between traditional jeans and leggings. Now, the only thing that I have to say about that is EWWW. Now, I'm not here to try to make anybody mad, so if you like jeggings then that's your business, but I personally do not like jeggings and I don't even really like skinny jeans either.

Lately I've been thinking about how skinny jeans aren't even that cool. I mean, a pair of nice skinny's that gently curve to you is fine but when you start wearing these XXS skinny jeans that's where it all gets weird. I mean, for starters they look so uncomfortable. Especially since they're made out of jean material. *shudders* I just don't understand how tight clothing is the new in. I mean, 'flattering' is fine (sometimes) but 'gut wrenching tight' is not. Anyways, I'm sure that they're somehow bad for your health! I really don't even know how you could breath in one of those. It has to hurt!

Another point is why does society tell you that you have to look just like a super model to be truly accepted? I mean, its' fine to want to dress up and look nice but you don't have to be perfect. And the truth of the matter is that nobody really is. Not even models. So, I want to dare you to just be yourself. And the best thing you can do is to improve your personality because who you are on the inside is who you truly are on the outside.

Review: Scrunching Your Hair With Regis Designline Curl Lock Curl Cream

These are my actual waves!
If you're anything like the millions of girls that I have come to know, and occasionally love, then you might be looking into the current fashion of scrunching. Scrunching is a hair technique used to create natural looking curls and waves in one's hair. It is also a very useful technique in the summer, when hair seems to poof the most, or when you're on the run and can't bear to wear another ponytail. Here is the way that I scrunch my own hair:

1) First you need to wet your hair, COMPLETELY.

2) COMB through your hair, brushes are very bad when it comes to creating curls. If you have thick hair you may want to look into using a wide toothed comb. I got mine from walmart for under $5.00

3) Now here's a step that most people probably don't use but to me it has made a most definite difference in my hair. What you need to do is take your bath towl and (with your head flipped over) scrunch your hair with the towel only! Then flip upright and scrunch tilting your head to each side. If you don't know what scrunching is I will explain at the bottom.

4) Take a bottle of Designline Curl Lock Curl Cream or any other gel/mousse/curl cream and squirt a quarter size amount into the palm of your hand.

5) Smooth the product first in your hand and then (with head flipped) scrunch into hair with hands and then flip up right and scrunch sides.

6) Now, here's another helpful tip. If the back of your hair seems bumpy take a comb and comb carefully until your waves/curls start.

7) Now you have wonderful curls! Getting long layers cut into your hair can help with your curls as well.

Now for the Regis Designline Curl Lock Curl Cream Review:

I absolutely love this product. It smells SOOO good and really does hold your curls well. It's only about $12.00 from walmart but it is definately worth it. Unlike watery gels it is a cream, which my hair stylist says is the best thing in the world that you can use for curls!

I give this product 5 Stars: *****

Scrunching: Where you take a fistfull of hair in your hand, scrunch it, and keep scrunching pulling hair up to the very top of your head. Then release and redo or move on depending on if you approve of that curl/wave.

FTC: I am not in anyway affiliated with the company (Regis Corporation) that has created this curl lock cream. All products used for this post were bought by myself and, as always, all opinions are my own.
